For my healthy eating workshop for seniors, I wanted to provide a few easy to remember points.

    Eat food.
    Mostly plants.
    Not too much.
    Add color.
    Aim for balance.
    Try something new.
    Work on improvement.

The first three (not original) provide a great foundation but they don’t cover all the bases. Seniors tend to be pretty literal in their interpretation of any guidelines provided by an “expert” so it was important to include some “rules” to broaden their eating choices.

The final tip is a reminder that if you don’t get it right today, you can try again tomorrow, which eases the sense of failure and frustration they experience with most nutrition programs.
