–Innovator’s Mindset. George Couros

Highlights from #IMMOOC Week 1
Oh, my. This is so true. It just breaks my heart when I meet kids who really aren’t curious about anything. I work with middle school classes at a couple of schools. Some of the kids are just bursting. They are curious about everything. Others. not so much. A few, well, nothing actually. Even with one-on-one conversations, it is hard to discover if they have any interests at all. Although I doubt that, getting them to frame up answers to questions about interests, what they might like to do as adults, etc. is not something they can do in response to a few simple questions.

Problem-based learning, inquiry learning, design thinking, question formulation all assume a basic interest in something and some degree of curiosity.
