resizing images

For web development, image editing is essential. Sizing images for your site will impact how quickly your pages load.

With most of the editor listed, you can “resize” the images. Usually this means making the image file much smaller that the original that comes from a digital camera. A 4GB image has enough detail to provide good quality prints but this is totally unnecessary for web display.

For example, this gorgeous image looks great on a web page. Size of this preview: 476 × 600 pixels.

Have a look at the other sizes. What do you really need for your web display? Remember, the visitors’ browser is just going to have to spend time throwing away information if the file you provide has more information than can be used in the display. This takes time to load and may turn off your visitors.
