summary 9. forms

Forms are pretty handy and can be used for many different types of interactions with users.

Individual projects

We are moving into the Individual Projects web development portion of the course. Yes, you can just start creating pages. However that is often the last thing that professional web developers do.

There are many formal development methodologies to provide guidance for assessing client and audience needs before designing and implementing the web site. We will be looking at several ways to approach the “problem” before diving into actually coding html and css.

Project PLAN

The deliverable for this week is a Project PLAN. This should indicate what you are thinking about doing and why. What are you expecting a visitor to do when they come to your site? What will set your site apart from the millions of similar sites? What will make them want to come back?

Group discussions, sharing, feedback

The other important activity this week is the Discussion groups. Working collaboratively online is a new experience for most people. More and more organizations are moving to this form of communication. Cost, time, quality of the interactions, transparency, project tracking, decision support – all these are important reasons to use online collaboration tools. Here is your opportunity to gain some first-hand experience and develop your skills.

Discussion groups

Why haven’t you participated in the discussion more up until now? What needs to change to encourage you to participate early and often? Extra points for discussing this in your group.

Looking forward to seeing the PLAN for your individual project.
Work with others in your group to share ideas and get feedback on your plan.

Have a great week.
